Join USAF MARS


How to join USAF MARS:

Do you meet ALL of the following requirements?

1.  17 years old.

2.  Citizen of the United States, or lawfully admitted to the US for permanent residency under the provisions of  Title 18, United States Code, Chapter 12, and reside within the borders of the US, its territories, possessions or in an area under an overseas military command's jurisdiction.

3.  Hold a valid "Amateur Radio Operators License", issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). (Novice class licensees MUST upgrade to technician or higher class within ONE YEAR from the initial approval date).

4.  Have an operational HF radio station, presently capable of operating, or can be modified to operate, on a minimum of two (2) assigned MARS SSB HF frequencies, between 3-30 MHz.  USAF MARS frequencies are NOT in the Amateur bands.

5.  Have an operational HF radio station, presently capable of operating in a DIGITAL (PACKET, PACTOR or GTOR) mode.
